Inception

Powerful piece of music. Minimalistic--simple melody.

  1. I just saw this movie and rather enjoyed it. I did notice the music throughout, and I thought it was remarkably well written to fit the director's vision for the film.

I also noticed that the main theme seemed to be the same song they listened to in the film to "wake up" from the dreams, only it had been slowed down many times. Interesting, because this hints at the idea that the characters in the film might actually be hearing the soundtrack during parts of the movie (because they are in a slower "dream world"). In other words, in a film of merging realities, we're not even sure if what we're hearing is a soundtrack or part of the characters' world.

I'd have to watch it again to see if that's true, but I'm pretty sure it is a genius use of music to blur the line between the characters' experience and the viewers' experience.

  2. Tyler, I didn't quite understand when you explained this to me in person.

Wow, what a brilliant analysis you've done of the tune. Now I want to see it again to listen for that slow moving beat.
